Amber Springs Hotel & Health Spa

Written by Louise

After returning from holidays last week my anxiety got a lot worse.  I couldn’t cope with everything that had to be done and I just wanted to run away.  So for once I did just that!  I looked around online for hotels that are child friendly and came across Amber Springs Hotel.  I have heard a lot of great reviews about it before so myself and the kids  packed up and headed down to see if it is all it’s cracked up to be.  It was only 1 hours drive from Dublin which is great because any longer and Ryan would have cracked up  “Are we there yet??? How about now?? How many more minutes??”.

When we arrived we went to have something to eat in Kelby’s Bistro.  A BLT, kids pasta and two juices came to just over €20 so that was our last time eating in the hotel!  We took a little trip to Tesco around the corner (within walking distance) and stocked up on a few bits for tea.  Our room was on the first floor.  The room itself had a double bed and single bed and plenty of space.  We went on A Tuesday to Thursday so I don’t know if it was because it was during the week but our corridor was lovely and quiet :)  The lift to the swimming pool was right beside our room and there was also some vending machines which the kids obviously loved :)

Once we settled in we went outside to have a nose.  Out the back of the Hotel there were slides, go-karting, mini crazy golf, a football pitch, a mini playground and a mini pet farm with different animals.  During the Summer months and school holidays they have a Kids Club which hosts daily activities.

We then got ready to go to the pool.  Ryan and Holly were so excited about going swimming :)  We spent most of our time during our stay in the pool!  There is:

  • 18 meter swimming pool
  • Kiddies pool
  • Hydrotherapy pool
  • Jacuzzi
  • Sauna Room
  • Steam room
  • Fully equipped fitness studioLeisure-Centre-2-300x200

The pool is heated which is great for young children.  We got towels at the pool.  I was  €5 deposit for them, so handy instead of carrying wet towels up and down to the room!!  Swimming hats, goggles etc.. also available to purchase at the pool.  The changing rooms were spotless.  They had hairdryers, plastic bags for wet clothes, lockers etc..

We then visited the Playzone on the ground floor.  It was a little jungle gym and ball pool (mainly for younger children).

There is also a:

Games Room

2nd Floor beside the Restaurant.
This room has two pool tables, table tennis table, air hockey table.  Equipment for the games room can be got from the Playzone with a refundable €5 deposit on all items.

Amber Cinema

Also available for your room is nightly DVD player rental. Available from Reception, package includes ice-cream, popcorn and a choice of 2 DVD’s for just €15.00.

Nursing room

Now available on the 2nd floor there is a Microwave, Sterilizer, Kettle for your needs.

We had breakfast both mornings in Kelby’s Bistro.  Ryan and holly really enjoyed the breakfast.  There was so much food they didn’t know what to choose!!

After visiting The Amber Springs Hotel  I would say it is what it’s all cracked up to be.  Ryan and Holly had an absolute ball!!  They have all the facilities so it is just up to you how you enjoy them.  We have already booked in for the Santa Experience :)
